Data Centre PDU Innovation of the Year
Entry Description
What are your product's/solution's key distinguishing features and/or USP?

Server Technology’s PRO3X is the first hybrid rack PDU built to solve today's top data center challenges: Power Density, Capacity Planning, and Remote Power Management. It powers data center applications of all sizes: from small to large, edge compute locations, to IT cabinets. The PRO3X PDU features 2-in-1 HDOT® Cx outlets which standardize a single PDU for multiple applications due to its ability to act like a C13 or C19 outlet. Its alternating branch technology helps with clean cable management to improve airflow and ease three-phase load balancing. Its RamLock outlet retention mechanism, built to secure the broadest range of C14 and C20 plugs, eases unplugging with a simple one-handed “squeeze and pull” action. These features are then powered by the embedded Xerus Technology Platform that delivers security, high compute power, intelligence, advanced alerting, and visibility into your power chain.

More Benefits from a Single Solution
1. Measure & Monitor Power Consumption
Access advanced power usage information so that you can always keep a close watch on your facility
2. Remote Power Management
Make critical power adjustments from any location to efficiently utilize power resources, while saving power and money
3. Capacity Planning
See exactly how new infrastructure and technologies fit in with your existing equipment to make informed decisions about optimizing current and future rack growth
4. Real-Time Environmental Alerts
Stay on top of environmental challenges like hot spots and condensation with advanced temperature and humidity monitoring options

What tangible impact has your product/solution had on the market and your customers?

Server Technology’s PRO3X rack power distribution units (PDUs) are designed to keep you informed of any interruption to your power infrastructure such as unexpected outages, unplanned configuration changes, and security threats. PRO3X rack PDUs provide customers with maximum visibility into their power chain, elevating rack PDUs to a new level of performance.

The PRO3X innovative High Density Outlet Technology (HDOT®) Cx outlets welcomes change as data center equipment is replaced. The Cx outlet is a UL tested hybrid of the C13 and C19 outlets, accommodating both C20 and C14 plugs. This innovative design reduces the complexity of selecting a rack PDU for your applications while lowering end costs. With HDOT Cx, you won’t have to buy a new set of PDUs when equipment changes. Paired with the PRO3X’s innovative RamLock lightweight, high strength mechanical locking mechanism, built to secure the broadest range of C14 and C20 plugs.

What are the major differentiators between your product/solution and those of your primary competitors?

Vertiv/Geist rPDU
The more significant differentiator of the PRO3X to the Geist rPDU is the PRO3X’s RamLock outlet retention mechanism, built to secure the broadest range of C14 and C20 plugs and eases unplugging with a simple one-handed “squeeze and pull” action. Since space in a rack/cabinet is at a premium, sometimes it may be difficult to reach the PDU within that rack/cabinet to secure or unplug cords from outlets. With RamLock’s easy “squeeze and pull” action, it releases and secures plugs easily. The Geist rPDU does have a U-Lock receptacle feature which is said to secure power cords and avoid accidental disconnectors, but it does have an easy “squeeze and pull” action, nor does their receptacle feature an HDOT Cx outlet, accommodating both C20 and C14 plugs within the same outlet.

APC/Schneider Electric NetShelter Rack PDU
The more significant differentiator of the PRO3X to the APC/Schneider NetShelter Rack PDU is the PRO3X’s HDOT and HDOT Cx outlets. High Density Outlet Technology (HDOT) Cx outlets welcomes change as data center equipment is replaced. The Cx outlet is a UL tested hybrid of the C13 and C19 outlets, accommodating both C20 and C14 plugs. This innovative design on the PRO3X reduces the complexity of selecting a rack PDU for your applications while lowering end costs. With HDOT Cx, you will not have to buy a new set of PDUs when equipment changes.

Eaton ePDU
The two differentiators of the PRO3X to the Eaton ePDU are the PRO3X’s HDOT and HDOT Cx outlets (described above) along with the embedded Xerus Technology Platform. Xerus is a combination of hardware and software technologies embedded into PRO3X rack PDUs. It is comprised of a state-of-the-art network interface module, pushbutton enabled multi-color LCD display, open source firmware, and a plethora of interface ports all on a hot-swappable card. Xerus maximizes data center efficiency by delivering security, high compute power, advanced alerting, intelligence, and complete visibility into your power chain.

“DeltaWare Inc. has had a long relationship with Server Technology, leading to many satisfied clients over the years. The PRO3X PDU has many great features that make it a product we are proud to offer our customers. For starters, the PRO3X PDU is good for dynamic environments, such as labs where equipment is frequently swapped out. They are also ideal for SME customers who want custom outlet layouts without paying for the customization. These PDU’s are also a good fit for companies with different outlet requirements in the same rack. They offer removable locking sleeves that make Cx outlets lock with any IEC plugs, and they support high-retention outlets. In addition, the Cx outlet modules are compatible with build your own PDU customizations. With all this in mind, I urge you to contact your Server Technology representative and request more information about the new PRO3X PDU product line. See how many ways it can fit into your environment.”
