Data Centre Consolidation/Upgrade/Refresh Project of the Year
RGS Nordics A/S is a Copenhagen-based environmental consulting and waste management firm. They recently faced a potentially daunting IT challenge; to establish their own IT organisation and back-office infrastructure outside of the former group IT function. The forward-thinking new IT group took the clean-sheet opportunity to build a new, highly flexible yet powerful IT platform from the ground up, that would serve them for years to come. With an open playing field and a mindset for change, whose technology solutions would shine – existing incumbent with a track record or fresh competitor with new processes?
What exactly is novel about the process?
RGS Nordics from the outset wanted to create a new model to deploy the best hardware across the estate backed by excellent service and support. They deployed a new CIO, Lars Peter Lundstrøm to oversee the process and he wasn’t afraid to break from former convention. He noted. “Our goal was to establish the most professional back-office solution with a competent and flexible partner at a competitive price. We wanted to create a new model and some might ask if we didn’t choose another vendor, how could we do that? I wasn’t part of the past, so I entered the job with open eyes to find the best possible vendor.”
Curvature already had a proven track record of success with the company. In fact, the global provider of networking and data centre services and solutions had previously overseen the management of the group’s IT solution. Still, the company decided to put each competing solution through a careful evaluation before selecting the ultimate winner.
How does the process break conventional fields in this area?
Without bias, Curvature was asked to bid alongside all other competitors. After thorough review and analysis, Curvature’s tender response was selected. Why? Track record speaks volumes in a competitive scenario, so Curvature were in the unique position to have their processes and services time-tested and field-proven. RS Nordics had the confidence that even though Curvature had provided the best overall plan at a highly competitive price, they had the capability to deliver. ‟Curvature understood our new strategy better than the others,” says Lundstrøm. ‟Their offer was indeed competitive and the suggestion of deploying professional sparing made a huge difference in our ultimate decision. That’s why we chose to engage with Curvature.”
How did it go over marginal improvements beyond what was already in place?
The initial implementation by Curvature —providing core infrastructure services—was completed one month ahead of schedule. During that time, Curvature also demonstrated how its vast portfolio of IT technology services and consulting delivered major benefits to other organisations around the world. Not only did this bolster RGS Nordic’s confidence in its initial decision, it helped expand the trusted partnership to include 24/7 live service desk, backup services, relocation management, co-location management and security services.
How did RGS Nordics benefit from the Curvature approach?
The scope of services provided by Curvature continues to grow in keeping pace with RGS Nordic’s thriving business. ‟Even though we needed to build from scratch, Curvature handled everything professionally,” concludes Lundstrøm. ‟Our relationship has gone above our expectations. At RGS Nordics, we can say without hesitation that we recommend Curvature as a trustworthy and competent IT partner.”
